Sailing instruction for 2007 will be limited to private instruction
on an as available basis. Private lessons suit those that can’t
commit to a fixed class schedule, or know how to sail but want
to improve in one or more maneuvers, or who simply want to
learn in a one-on-one or personalized setting. Each session
runs between 1 1/2 and 2 hours (weather dependent). Private
lessons are typically given on Flying Scots, but may be given
on Lasers or a keelboat in special circumstances. For 2007,
private lessons will cost $40 per session for one student,
$50 for two, $55 for three, $60 for four and $65 for five.
Your entire family can learn together using the private lesson
format. Contact the Instruction Coordinator, Ron Hosie at 685
3475 for more information. And as a special incentive to join
our great club, 75% of instruction fees can be deducted from
your membership fees this year

Skaneateles Country Club - www.skaneatelescc.com/sailschool.
The Skaneateles Country Club Sailing Committee
offers a full sailing program to the SCC community and the
public at large.
We offer classes geared for youths 7 years to 18 years as
well as adult classes. The staff is made up of U.S. Sail
Certified Instructors. All staff are CPR and First Aid certified
and ready to meet the needs of both adults and youths.
Some of our activities include:
Apple race: Kids sailed the boats and tried to retrieve as
many apples as they could that had been tossed in the lake
by the instructors. They were even allowed to swim their boats
to the apples but a person in the boat had to pick the apple
out of the water.
Interclub Race: Sailors from Fair Haven Yacht Club,
Rochester Yacht Club, Willowbank Yacht Club, and Youngstown
Yacht Club
came to Skaneateles to compete in Lasers, 420's and DC's.
Classes are offered at the following levels:
Beginner: This class is designed to provide
the novice with a general introduction to sailing.
Intermediate: This class is designed to
continue the basic skills developed in the Beginner program.
The specific
focus
will be on the skills needed to function as both a skipper
and a crew.
Advanced/Racing: This class is geared to
the sailor with a commitment to refining moderate to advanced
sailing/racing
abilities and knowledge. Teamwork is a major component, as
each sailor will learn to function as a team member.
Adult: This class offers options for the
adult sailor. Focus will be on basics of rigging, small boat
handling,
points of
sail, terminology, capsize and recovery, man overboard drills,
basic knot tying and classroom lectures. We are flexible
for experienced and novice sailors.
Learn to Sail 3-Pack: Three 1 1/2 hour
semi-private sailing lessons July 5th to August 11th 2006,
Monday — Friday. By appointment only
For more information or to register call 315-685-5759 or
